Sex Offender Arrested for Failure to Register and Unlawful Use of a Social Network
The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office has arrested Douglas Hotard, 52, of Baton Rouge for driving a vehicle that was not registered with the Sheriff’s Office Sex Offender and Child Predator Unit.
Hotard admitted to having the vehicle for nearly a month prior to being arrested by deputies.
Deputies also charged Hotard with Unlawful Use of a Social Network for having a Facebook page in his name.
Hotard told deputies the page was his, however, stated that someone else set it up for him.
Unlawful Use of a Social Network is a law that was introduced in 2012. It is a felony charge that carries up to 10 years in prison for first time offenders and up to a $10,000 fine.
Hotard was transported to EBR Parish Prison where he is being held awaiting a bond hearing.
